Xiao Min's Magical Transformations

Waking up one morning, a young boy discovers white butterflies emerging from his skin—more and more of them—leaving him feeling deeply uncomfortable. Together with his mother, he launches a major effort to drive the butterflies away. Will they succeed?

This picture book was produced by the "Walking Hand-in-Hand with Children" (Walking Together with a Child's Heart) project—an initiative supported by the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong—which focuses on the emotional well-being of children with eczema and their parents. The project aims to boost the children's self-confidence and resilience, raise parental awareness regarding their children's potential and the importance of self-care, and foster close parent-child relationships. While managing childhood eczema is crucial, a child's mental health and personal growth are even more important. Through the metaphor of white butterflies, the book invites readers to understand the inner world of children living with eczema.
